Breakdown occurs inside the insulator, discharging through the porcelain body between the iron cap and the iron foot. There may be no trace on the surface, but the insulation performance has been lost. It may also completely damage the insulator due to the generation of an electric arc. For breakdown, attention should be paid to checking the discharge marks and burn conditions of the iron feet.
